Troop makes a Comeback, aka Where the keepin' it real redux happens....
Thank you......NELLY??!?......for bringing back the New York classic isht. One of the first truly hip-hop brands, b-boys, nefs, and dealers all rocked Troop at one point or another, made popular by none other than Ladies Love Cool J.
But when a rumor got on the hood wire that TROOP stood for "To Rule Over Oppressed People," and was owned by the KKK, TROOP (whose volume was 95% African American and Latino) lost its street cred and was banished from the sneaker lexicon. Through a licensing deal, Nelly aims to bring TROOP back into the collective consciousness.....or Nelly is f#ckin us again, who knows? Love live TROOP!
